Two large scuppers located inboard of the rudders drain the cockpit.
The Zero’s cockpit coamings and transom offer a high level of security and personal comfort not found on all Series class boats. The emergency raft housing on the cockpit sole provides excellent ergonomic bracing while steering and the single extendable tiller permits a great range of comfortable steering positions.
Most Series boats have a vertical entry into the cabin. The Zero offers the more typical big boat entry with a sliding hatch and angled companionway. Although more expensive to manufacture, the Zero entry ensures owners do not need to practice yoga to be able to go below. The Lexcan sliding hatch provides light and shelter while sailing with the hatch open. This hatch can be replaced with a IQ Solar 35w sliding solar panel.
