The Zero's keel can be raised to lower the boat's centre of gravity and to permit the use of a canting cradle that allows the boat to be towed legally without a permit in North America and Europe. Each US state, Canadian province and European Union country requires a towing permit for wide loads and all Minis' beams exceed the allowable limits (usually 2.5m).
